Carols Unwrapped: A Christmas Series

Every December, familiar melodies fill our homes, our cars, and the spaces around us. We hum them without thinking. We’ve known them since childhood. But rarely do we pause long enough to recognize what many of these songs truly are: Worship. Scripture. Declerations of who Christ is and why He came.

There’s something unique about worship through music—how melody and meaningful lyrics help truth settle in more deeply and draw our focus back to God. And during Christmas, when these songs are everywhere, it feels like we’re given a constant reminder to slow down and remember the real meaning of the season.

But in all the commercialized rush of December, it’s easy to let these carols fade into background noise instead of letting them shape our hearts.

So this month, I’m slowing down.
I’m leaning in.
And I’m inviting you to join me!

Welcome to Carols Unwrapped! A Christmas blog series devoted to rediscovering the depth, Scripture, and beauty woven into the Christmas carols we know and love.

Each week, we’ll take one classic carol and unpack the truth hidden inside its lyrics. We’ll look at Scriptures that inspired them, the story behind their writing, and the worship they call us to today—because these songs are far more than a festive tradition. They show the gospel in a simple way, shared through generations.

This Christmas season, we’ll explore:

  • Joy to the World — a proclomation of Christ’s reign
  • O Holy Night — the gospel wrapped in melody
  • Little Drummer Boy — the heart of offering what we have
  • Mary, Did You Know? — a modern reflection on the identity of Jesus
  • Silent Night — peace made flesh in a quiet town

My prayer is simple: That as we unwrap these carols together, they would move from background music to moments of worship. That their words would draw us back to the wonder of Christ’s coming. And that this December, your heart would find new joy, new awe, and new room for Him.

Let’s step unto the season with ears open, hearts prepared, and a posture of worship!

Welcome to Carols Unwrapped!
